From what I’m hearing, there’s four different possibilities on people’s mind… if there’s a fifth that I’m not hearing/seeing, please let me know. I thought it was important that everyone sleeps off last night’s game before conducting this poll.

Hate to say it…

I’m done with Grant. Gave him the benefit of the doubt for the tragedy he is enduring, but he’s not the guy. I gave him more slack than anyone for the simple fact that he was the one guy who wouldn’t see UD as a stepping stone. He’s not a good coach. Phenomenal recruiter, horrible coach. That’s it. Hope he leaves on his own. Go get Archie back. Maybe this time he stays. Who knows, but AG is not the guy.

Talent Level of This Roster

I am questioning the actual talent of this roster. Did we overvalue them? I think I did. I think most of us would agree Holmes and Carmara are significant talents at the 4 and 5 positions, but we seem to lack in other areas in my opinion such as the guard position, especially with their lack of size. We do not have many players who can consistently take opponents off the dribble and score. These other teams seem to have these types of players 6'3"- 6'4 who are strong, tough, skilled and athletic enough to get into the paint and to the basket.

You hear all these fans and media people who exclaim how much talent this team has but we are lacking in areas.

Oduro and Polite are at least two GM players who would start for us.Some of these teams seem to be more talented than us at the 1,2 and 3 3 positions.

So has our talent been overvalued or have they not been developed?

Totally frustrated and the end of the season is nearing.

Last night I thought was one of DaRon's finest all-around performances. As this mid-season highlight video from last year will attest to, he is a sensational talent. Of course he needs more work as he moves towards the next level, but I feel the NBA game offers more floor spacing and he will be able to expand his shooting range and his ability to take defenders off the dribble with his excellent quickness for a big man.

You really have to be impressed with his court sense and vision, to go along with his developing offensive repertoire, defensive ability and feet.

Sometimes we expect him to perform like a seasoned standout NBA vet every single night, but we need to remind ourselves DaRon is still a 20 year old true sophomore.

I think DaRon has gone through some mid-season struggles, which have help him to reach a new level of development as a player, which I thought we saw last night, I believe he had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and at least 2 blocked shots. It was a fantastic all around effort.

This is an outstanding video which shows a tremendous burgeoning talent. When I watched it I said, "Wow, this kid is really special." I'm looking forward to watching his play and development for the next game and for the remainder of the season.

We know there is speculation as to how long he will remain on campus. In my opinion, after last night and watching this video, I believe it will be sooner rather than later, especially since the NBA people seem to go more on potential and speculation more so than present skill levels. Let's continue to sit back and enjoy watching one of the all time great Dayton Flyers.

UDWBB 2023-24

While many thought Jim Jabir's 3-25 record in the 03/04 season {his first} would be seriously challenged by this season's squad, that haven't happened as the Women's team got win number 5 last night at VCU. This is a team that despite a ton of adversity has stuck together, and continues to play hard: a tribute to the entire coaching staff. The team of course has been devastated by injuries/illness. But from Day one it has been plagued by a serious lack of talent. Some might quote lofty stats; double doubles etc. but this team is a turnover nightmare highlighted by a multitude of missed layups. With four outstanding newcomers slated to join the team next season along with a promising medical red shirt, the question is how many players from 22/23 will return for 23/24. Word is Perez and Freeman plan to utilize their covid year and return. Let's hope they can get out of the way of the new additions, and just add some solid backup. Incidentally another outstanding prospect is committed for 24/25 with more to follow. It took Jabir just a few seasons to right the ship. Nothing should be done to inhibit the development of this promising young talent.

Kobe Brea

Kobe Brea has provided valuable contributions to the team in the last week at lead guard, shooting guard and even in a forward position

He seems to be maturing as a talent at a very important time, especially with Mali and RJ being hobbled.

I believe he has shot the ball well, is working hard on defense and putting the ball on the deck more and showing more diversity in his game.

He also seems to be an outstanding young man who cherishes being a Flyer.

Hang in

So we clearly know how people think and Neil and Anthony have a big offseason ahead of them. BUT…..and maybe it’s because I look forward to Brooklyn, lets not quit on the season . With Mali out most likely I would like to see a great effort Tuesday nite , if he plays I think we win. The way the conference is going it’s A huge week and we have to beat SLU Friday nite. Sometimes it’s one game that can trigger a team and get them rollin. Never ever give up..let’s go Boys.
