Tough job ahead for Archie

Baloney. archie worked his butt off for UD and earned everything he got except the hatred emanating from this board.
I'm glad i got to watch us in the tournament the last few years and really enjoyed the trip to the elite 8.
Would any of you refuse a huge promotion in your field of work?
being bitter over someone realizing the American dream is very difficult for me to comprehend.
i hope AG takes us to the same or higher level that Archie took us and i certainly wouldn't be upset with him if he went to a high major a few years down the line based on his success at UD.
Mayday you are too funny!

I think most in here know that you are "NOT" a Flyer fan. Your post give you
away. But that's okay anyone is welcome to post. Just stop pretending.
I think that's what is irritating. Your pretending to be something you're
not. Again that's okay. We are on to you though! Lol

Murph...I am going to do something that I don't often do. Disagree with you.
Archies sucess at IU is NOT relevant to this board.

I think we all appreciate what Coach Miller did while here. No hate on
him leaving. He made a business decision. His right. But I wouldn't
expect to see a running tally on IU's wins and losses or the state of
their program. Nor would I expect to see Matt suddenly start writing
War Room Articles on IU. No more than I would expect to see any
other former UD coaches up to the min. daily progress report.
If I wanted to see that, I would go to their sight. JMO

And for some of you in here, just because many of us don't care what
Arch is doing in his new job doesn't mean we "hate" him or don't appreciate
what he did here. It simply means that we don't care about IU Basketball,
period. I believe they have sights for those who care about and desire
to follow such things.

Sure I could have chosen not to read or respond to Archie news or any other
post for that matter...next time maybe I won't. This time I chose to respond as I
did. Like Arch...I made a business decision...

Thanks for the note and no worries on the disagreement. I respect your view. I was pissed he left. I also understand why he left even if I would not have made the same decision. Bigger is not always better as we like to say.

We are where we are as a program because of his impact. His legacy is still fresh. He will pop up occasionally on this board as BG and OP do. Less so once we get next year started and get out of this slow period. I blame AG for being so efficient in locking up 2017 and leaving us nothing to speculate about except far away 2019 recruits :)

Agree with you I have no desire to track his progress at IU on this board nor have him pop up on a War Room article. I will silently hope we kick ass and IU struggles because I want at the end for him to realize he left a good thing. . .

boblove - I wish I had written this...couldn't agree more.

It appears that a Management Decision is in order here...Matt?

So if you tell the unfiltered truth that makes you not a flyer fan.
what is wrong with you people?
there's probably not a bigger flyer fan in the world than me.
i get so nervous in their close games that i can't even watch sometimes even though i have no action on the game.
i am, however, brutally honest

I don't doubt your love of the Flyer.

After over 2,180 views on this thread, I believe it is about to hit the top 100 viewed threads on this message board. It appears some people actually care. As an IU grad, IU season ticket holder and 20 year UD season ticket holder, I actually appreciate the duel discussion on this board. So please carry on.

I understand and totally respect your views. Always look forward to hearing
what you have to say. Or should I say reading what you have to say!

We already have one UD board who limits opinions/bans of those who aren't along with the tone of the board or company guidelines...let's not have another.

Matt runs a fair but tight ship here, and if he thinks the mayday guy is ok then so be it. If I choose to respond to that person I will, & if I don't want to I won't. Simple as that.

Besides, who are we to say how someone spends their money. You have to pay to play here, and if a non-UD fan posing as one decides to do so, that's an economically friendly solution to us all.

?????

Who said ban Mayday?
Maybe I missed something but didn't get that perspective at all.
Flyer fan or not (me think not) his views are as welcome as anyone else..

JD: i graduated UD in '67 and IU law in '72 and grew up a huge IU basketball fan but switched to UD basketball fan in'65 when i started to school there.
i was always a notre dame football fan but became a big Nd football fan when my son played there.
Now, i'm IU football and dayton baskets since my son is now a graduate assistant at IU. I was a long time season ticket holder at UD even though i live in Indy.
now, i'll root hard for IU football and dayton baskets and just a little for IU baskets because archie is there and i really like don fischer , the voice of IU baskets who is a great guy i know from the golf course.
there is a link between IU and dayton with the Gruden family which i learned more about recently because Gruden and his dad both came to IU spring football game and both went to dayton. jon was a three time All american Qb at UD if i remember correctly although i think they were division 3 by then in football. i think he's an awesome dude with a passion for football

Jon was a third string QB at Dayton. Far cry from an all-american. But then again you only post the "unfiltered truth". No knock on Jon, he has done really well and represents UD well

I am a '96 grad from IU, Kelley School of Business. I attended several of the football games each year and some of the basketball games. I end up selling most of the basketball tickets...3 hour drive is a lot...but the tickets are 5 rows from the IU bench. Always been a bigger UD fan than IU, but still love both schools. Archie moved to a big stage. More pressure, yes. Easier to achieve greatness, yes. Could it have been done at UD, yes. However, the path forward would have been bumpier with more ups and downs and probably required a some luck. It took some luck or good breaks to make Gonzaga, Wichita St, and Xavier what they are today. Yes, they got good coaching and good recruits, but there were no guarantees some of the recruits they got would have worked out as well as they did over consecutive recruiting classes. It takes multiple recruiting classes to develop that reputation. I am guessing these schools did not battle the injury and suspension issues UD battled in the previous three years. IF AG stabilizes the team this year and continues the forward momentum thereafter, then UD will be talked about in the same class as those three schools mentioned. I also believe each of these programs truly achieved their status after the original coach who started it all left. Gonzaga (Monson to Few ), Xavier (Gillen to Prosser to Matta to Miller to Mack), Wichita St. (Turgeon to Marshall).

Apparently, Gruden was a backup QB at UD and saw little action.
i was wrong again .
