Welcome to the 8th installment of The War Room for 2018. As always, I'll begin this session with the ground rules for those that may be new. Everything that is reported in The War Room must stay in The War Room. Sometimes the info is sensitive enough that it simply doesn't need to be passed on beyond the doors of this message board thread.
This is a special feature for our subscribers only. The reason why it is posted on the premium board is because that's the only way to ensure that the info stays exclusive to Dayton Flyer fans. Thanks for your cooperation.

Without further ado, here it is.... The 8th edition of the War Room for 2018!

TIMELINE

As you can tell, it’s been quiet this week around the University of Dayton. A lot of players and coaches are not on campus after the second summer session ended last week.

The Flyers made it a priority with Jordy Tshimanga to get him on campus before the break so they could try and secure a commitment from him immediately. This is a big coup (pun intended) to get the center in the fold and it should allow him to flourish after a year of development and get the opportunity he didn’t feel he got at Nebraska.

The staff is still working the contacts and trying to setup some visits in the coming weeks. I’ve been told of a few names that could be prioritized, and no surprise they are versatile players with length.

Fall classes at UD begin on August 22nd for the coming school year, and the players will come back to campus the same weekend as freshmen move-in—next weekend 8/17. That’s when I am expecting things to pick up significantly for 2019.

35 AND COUNTING

The dial has got turned up on Richmond native Robbie Beran. He has blown up quite a bit in the past couple of weeks, and Dayton is still in the hunt. Unlike Luke Anderson, the Flyers seem optimistic they will be able to get him on campus and soon.

Beran just came back from vacation and will likely sit down with his parents and coaches either today or tomorrow. I was told that he and his family could make an unofficial visit to campus as soon as next week.

When I first talked to him and he described what he was looking for—academics, social, and basketball, I thought Dayton would be a strong fit for him. Since the interview I had with him last week, he did get offered his 35th scholarship offer by Northwestern, adding another power five suitor with good academics.

Anthony Grant and his staff are recruiting some versatile forwards that are long and can shoot it. Beran would be a tremendous get for the staff. As we all know, get them on campus and anything can happen.

O CANADA

Another prospect very much in the center of Dayton’s radar is Canadian forward, Emanuel Miller. The 6-7 small forward plays his high school ball at La Lumiere School in Indiana.

Rivals currently rates him as a four star prospect and has him ranked 91st in the Rivals150. His biggest offers to date include Illinois, Oklahoma, and Pitt.

Anthony Grant watched him closely during the FIBA U18 Americas Championship while he was an assistant coach for the gold medal winning Team USA. He had a front row seat during their 113-74 win over Canada in the championship. Miller played over 37 minutes in the game and contributed 11 points on 5-11 shooting for the runner-up.

Grant and Soloman made him a priority in July, watching him play for UPLAY Canada in the EYBL. He averaged almost 12 points and shot nearly 55% from the floor in 16 EYBL games this summer. It’ll be interesting to see if Dayton can get him on campus as this seems to be one of those situations where they could try and sneak him in since there’s not much talk about the Flyers with him.

EYE ON THE PRIZE

While a lot of us felt like Anthony Grant and staff were wasting time watching Kira Lewis and the Georgia Stars, it turns out that Dayton had their eyes dead set on one of his teammates. I’m being told that the Flyers are trying to bring in 6-11 center Moulaye Sissoko for an official visit.

The Mali (Africa) center attends Lincoln Academy in Georgia. The Flyers offered him just before the July evaluation period when Anthony Grant came back from his Team USA duties.

In all, he has a total of 16 offers on the table. Cincinnati, Clemson, Dayton, Florida, Illinois State, Little Rock, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, New Mexico, Penn State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tulane, UCF, and Xavier make up his list.

I’m told he may be out of the country at the present time, but that they would like to try to get him on campus quickly after he returns to the states. I’m trying to get more information on when that will be and when his classes begin and will reply when I do get that information.

CLOSING

That does it for this edition of the War Room! A formal welcome and thank you to the new subscribers, like I said before we've added quite a few during July, and as always thank you to all of you long-time, loyal subscribers! You guys are the reason this is the best place to talk Dayton hoops all year round! Until next time, WE ARE…..
