As Flyer fans, we were spoiled with last season. Every game was a party. It was a celebration of well played basketball.
It ended abruptly and with no real conclusion.
This year, things are just different.
As of last night, there were 8 players available to Coach Grant. 2 with slight injuries (RJ and Weaver). 2 that are long term off the roster (Luke and Dwyane).
So let’s think about those 10.
Jordy - I think this is about what we are going to get from Jordy. Sometimes in sync (rarely). Out of sync (called for fouls, not able to finish).
Moulaye - how much more is there?
Neither has used their physical size to any advantage when the opportunity was there. Everything is labored, not fluid.
Mustapha. During the game last night, I went back to look at where he came from. This kid was evaluated by NBA when in Finland. Upside is there and given his initial showing, Amzil can play effectively at the D1 level. But he is raw and will make mistakes.
Zim - what gives? This kid was given an offer by Florida State. The talent is there. Been in the program for a year now.
Need to put out an APB on this guy’s game, because it is lost.
Last season, Cohill was in a funk but he worked through it and contributed. Can Zim worked through this?
RJ and Brea - I will put them both together for this. Their brief minutes have shown they are not overwhelmed. I think they can both give a 5 to 10 minute break to the starters. Sprinkle them in for some minutes in first half and second. Not too much.
Elijah - I think Weaver has a role similar to Ibi last year. First off the bench. Depending on the night, his minutes will expand or contract.
But needs to be each game as he will be a key contributor next season.
Ibi - This guy can score. Wish he was a little more selfish/assertive and got his shots up.
Jalen - Not sure how comfortable Jalen is as the off guard. Just me, but let Jalen be Scoochie and Rodney be Kyle Davis.
Rodney - Mask off and RC is playin great.
