Starting today, both Neil Sullivan and Tom Ostrom are going to be reassigned from their current positions to coordinating open gyms at the PAC. Sullivan will be responsible for setting up the schedule of teams and Ostrom will select the players themselves from a week of tryouts.
President Spina thanked both men for their time and efforts in running the athletic department and men's basketball recruiting, respectively. 'After careful evaluation of both Tom and Neil's performance, we felt a change was necessary. This change will allow us to save on salary costs by combining two positions into one. This streamlines synergies across departmental needs. It allows us to free up more money to place Wright State on our schedule at a lower cost to both schools. We feel the time is right for fans of both schools to embrace the legacy of the Gem City Jam.'
He then added: 'The person we have chosen to lead this new combined effort is, and let me stress this point, very selective in who he wants for the men's program and how he schedules the games for our athletic teams. He has shown the acumen of choosing our basketball team's schedule based on his ideas and desire to advance this program forward. When it comes to recruiting, hands down, he has made it clear that only the select few he has watched countless hours of Youtube videos of and seen at Flyin' to the Hoop will be chosen as scholarship athletes for our Men's Basketball Team. This frees up Archie Miller to live in the gym and coach with the awesome sounds of Alice N' Chains over the loudspeakers.'
