R&B means: THIS NEEDS TO REMAIN ON THIS PREMIUM FORUM.

Not quite a $ sign yet, but I think they are VERY close.

The Dayton Flyers had a scholarship open up this week and are looking to reel in one of the top shooters remaining in the 2019 class.

Sean McNeil is a 6-4, 190-pound shooting guard from Union, Kentucky. As a freshman this season, he averaged 29.7 points, shot 43.1% from three, and 87.6% from the free throw line for Sinclair Community College in Dayton.

Earlier this week, McNeil and his mother and father were on an official visit to the University of Dayton.

“The visit went very well,” McNeil said. “I had a photo shoot, talked to some academic people, the president, and the athletic director, as well as Coach Grant and the staff. They showed me some video clips of how I’d fit in. We also went out to dinner.”

The visit spanned a couple of days with his mother being with him on the first day and his father able to join on the second.

“My parents were really impressed with things and the conversations we had with the staff,” he noted. “They feel really good about how things went.”

The opportunity for McNeil got that much bigger before he made his trip. Starting shooting guard Jordan Davis announced that he would be transferring on Monday night following an up-and-down sophomore campaign.

“It makes it that much more intriguing,” McNeil explained. “From going to the games, he was a great player who was able to do a lot of things for them.”

Last week, McNeil trimmed his list to six schools including Dayton, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas Tech, Western Kentucky, and West Virginia.

“I plan on still meeting with some of the schools to discuss things, but plan to make a decision sometime soon,” he said.

McNeil will have three years of eligibility remaining at whichever school he ends up choosing.

We’ll continue to follow Sean McNeil as well as other top recruiting targets. Stay tuned to FlyerHoops, the best in Dayton basketball coverage.
