I've been reading and listening to experts” bloviating about how this loss to Dayton bumps VCU out of an at-large bid. I look at the SEC, Texas in particular. They played one F-ing Quad One game in OOC and lost. They played 13 Q1 games in conference and lost 8 of them. They are 6 and 11 in the SEC and lost 13 games in total. Arkansas was 1-1 in OOC Q1 games, Vanderbilt 0-0, Georgia 1-1, Missouri 0-2. Dayton was 2-3.

It’s true that at the top of the SEC is very good, but the rest of the league gets rich for beating each other and not playing anyone worth a damn outside the SEC. The A10 is never going to match the SEC, B10 or B12 but the league can be a helluva lot better. We don’t do our part in our own way and that’s been brought up countless times on this board. However, only UD, VCU, SLU, Davidson, SBU and Mason have publically said they are opting into the House settlement. There are a few posters on the A10 saying that they have heard as many as three schools may opt out and then later posted that they heard that they heard that at least one of these three will opt in. The deadline for non-defendants in the settlement was extended to June 15th, but why haven’t the other seven schools (not including UMASS) made an announcement. If they are committed it should have been an easy decision to make before March 1st - why push it out to June 15th?

The A10 shouldn’t allow schools to be in the A10 if they don’t opt in. Allowing schools to operate at the bare minimum needs to end as well. I’m going to call out George Washington. It’s a large nationally recognized school with a lot of money. They have teams that can on any given day beat anyone in the league, but they do only enough to be at that level. I can say the same thing about Davidson, and then go on about the other 12 programs in the conference. The A10 needs leadership that can affect change.
