It seems like Kyle Davis, more often than not, comes up with big, game changing plays in the closing minutes of contests, and he did that again last night with a key steal and layup which started our run to victory last night. I don't think we have ever had a player quite like KD.
Did you see the move by Big Steve down in the post? He backed his man down, forcing him into the lane with his left shoulder. The guy ( Larsen?) thought he was going to shoot it with his right hand. Instead, Steve pivoted with his right foot and banked in a left handed hook shot off the board. Wow! Craig Robinson, the color man, said that was a big boy move. And how about the key block in the last 5 minutes and then stepping up and hitting 2 key foul shots near the end? The young big guy is going to have his ups and downs, but how exciting is it going be to watch his development?
I am really impressed with Charles Cooke's game. He missed some practices this week and was not 100 percent, but he came up big in the end too. How many of you think the NBA people are going to be watching him over the next couple of years? It looks like he might have the size/athleticism, coupled with his developing skills to warrant that type of scrutiny.
When you think about it, we have four dynamic college basketball players in the front court with DP, Pollard, Big Steve and Charles. Each of these guys have unique talents, and are different in what they bring to the floor. It is going to be interesting to see how Archie melds this group together to create a high level functioning front court. It won't be easy. But if he able to accomplish this, it could be really special. We have been missing at least one of the parts for most of the first half. I think they are still trying to figure how Kendall fits in and what his role is.
I saw the handshake line after the game. They showed Josh Cunningham next to Dyshawn. He is a pretty big dude. A lot bigger than when I saw him in high school.
I hope the guys come together and buckle down for a dogfight up in Olean on Tuesday. We need DP and the juniors to lead us to victory up there. It ain't going to be easy.
