Was just perusing some stats and noticed that X actually had the best 3-pt percentage of Flyers who have made double digit 3s in the season (Crosby is actually shooting 50% from deep, 8/16). Xeyrius shoots 42.1% from behind the arc. What a weapon to bring your backup power forward off the bench and have him confidently drain threes.

He's also averaging 7.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and leads the team in offensive rebounds for the season thus far. He and Mikesell actually have the some number of total boards on the year, 106. He's shooting a good 71% free throws and confidently knocked down a couple clutch ones late last night.

He started off this year very poorly, and his overzealous travel/charge after grabbing that loose ball against St. Mary's could have caused him to retreat into his shell and lost all confidence. But he has improved by leaps and bounds since then. He actually had a very similar loose ball late in the Nebraska game which he smartly and calmly got to Scoochie.

His shot is a bit unorthodox, but he is reminding me more and more of Al-Farouq Aminu... their mechanics are very similar. I'd certainly be happy if he has a similar career!

Anyway, he still gets lost sometimes in transition defense, but generally is where he is supposed to be, makes the right play, shoots it with confidence and has been a really nice bright spot off the bench. He's seized the opportunity with Josh out, and it has been cool to see. Bravo to him for working hard and improving, and bravo to the coaching staff for setting him up for success.
