While many thought Jim Jabir's 3-25 record in the 03/04 season {his first} would be seriously challenged by this season's squad, that haven't happened as the Women's team got win number 5 last night at VCU. This is a team that despite a ton of adversity has stuck together, and continues to play hard: a tribute to the entire coaching staff. The team of course has been devastated by injuries/illness. But from Day one it has been plagued by a serious lack of talent. Some might quote lofty stats; double doubles etc. but this team is a turnover nightmare highlighted by a multitude of missed layups. With four outstanding newcomers slated to join the team next season along with a promising medical red shirt, the question is how many players from 22/23 will return for 23/24. Word is Perez and Freeman plan to utilize their covid year and return. Let's hope they can get out of the way of the new additions, and just add some solid backup. Incidentally another outstanding prospect is committed for 24/25 with more to follow. It took Jabir just a few seasons to right the ship. Nothing should be done to inhibit the development of this promising young talent.
