There has been a running debate here about Jalen Crutcher and his value or lack thereof for the past year or so, it got me thinking so I took some time to dig into his career to date and what he will likely end up with stat wise at UD. Not anointing him here, just giving some food for thought. He has frustrated me at times, but more often than not has been a workhorse through his first 73 games, and is on pace to some solid career totals.
I took some liberties of expanding his current stat lines out for a full career, relatively conservatively IMO. Guy has the chance to go down as one of the best PG's in school history, once he takes the team on a tournament tear this year too. If he suffers no major injuries he will likely finish with numbers like so:
133 GP, averaging 33 minutes.
1547 Points - 433 Rebounds - 704 Assists - 327 TO's - 132 Steals. 2.15 A/TO ratio
Here's a couple of career stats to compare that with:
122 Gp, averaging 33 minutes
1806 Points - 380 Rebounds - 663 Assists - 348 TO's - 162 Steals 1.9 A/TO ratio
That is Negele Knight's career, all time leading assist man buy a mile and in striking distance for Crutcher.
138 GP, averaging 28 minutes
1289 Points - 370 Rebounds - 498 Assists - 247 TO's - 172 Steals 2.0 A/TO ratio
That is Scoochie Smith's career, little less volume due to the amount Crutcher played as a freshman, but he played a ton of games.
