I guess he doesn’t value his time at X all that much:
. Bottom line he wants to destroy the basis of college basketball for the benefit of maybe 300 players (20 teams x 15players per team). And what do the players get out of it?

New League:
- $50-$150K - fully taxable
- full scholarship to a "nearby college or trade school" (What happens if they are traded and they can't get admitted to school in new location) provide they are admitted on there own merit
- Non-engaged crowds in the hundreds
- Streaming media?

Vs.
- Scholarship to the school and coach of their choice
- Special athletic dorms and meals
- Special trainers
- Special tutoring
- Expense money (non-taxable)
- Charter air travel
- Preseason and Thanksgiving tournaments, in Maui, Bahamas...
- Oversea exhibitions
- Rabid crowds in the thousands
- National media exposure
