Yesterday was a tough loss all around, no question. And SLU, at full strength, does not appear to be a team we match up well against. So i'd like to avoid them in the tourney. (Though I will say the shenanigans at the end will have us pretty fired up if we do meet them again in the A10 tourney.)

But I wanted to look at the remaining schedules, and since the conference is pretty deep this year, I'm basing it on the top half vs. the lower half considering that the pre-season favorite (SBU) is currently sitting in 7th place. The good news for the Flyers fans is that among the Top 7 teams, we have the easiest remaining schedule. So if we take care of business, we should finish 1 or 2 in the league. We can't be losing to the lower half teams the rest of the way. If we avoid those types of losses, we will be sitting pretty.

Anyway, here's the breakdown:

Davidson (currently in 1st place)
Total Games remaining: 8
Games played against the top half: 4
Games remaining vs. top half of conference: 3
Road games remaining vs. top half of conference: 1
Home games remaining vs. top half of conference: 2

SLU (currently in 2nd place)
Total Games remaining: 9
Games played against the top half: 4
Games remaining vs. top half of conference: 5
Road games remaining vs. top half of conference: 3
Home games remaining vs. top half of conference: 2

VCU (currently tied with UD for 3rd place)
Total Games remaining: 8
Games played against the top half: 6
Games remaining vs. top half of conference: 5
Road games remaining vs. top half of conference: 2
Home games remaining vs. top half of conference: 3

Dayton (currently tied with VCU for 3rd place)
Total Games remaining: 8
Games played against the top half: 6
Games remaining vs. top half of conference: 2
Road games remaining vs. top half of conference: 1
Home games remaining vs. top half of conference: 1

Richmond (currently in 5th place)
Total Games remaining: 8
Games played against the top half: 4
Games remaining vs. top half of conference: 6
Road games remaining vs. top half of conference: 3
Home games remaining vs. top half of conference: 3

George Mason (currently in 6th place)
Total Games remaining: 9
Games played against the top half: 3
Games remaining vs. top half of conference: 5
Road games remaining vs. top half of conference: 3
Home games remaining vs. top half of conference: 2

St. Bonaventure (currently in 7th Place)
Total Games remaining: 9
Games played against the top half: 5
Games remaining vs. top half of conference: 4
Road games remaining vs. top half of conference: 2
Home games remaining vs. top half of conference: 2

Ranking of Remaining Schedules (Easiest to Hardest)

1. Dayton (2 games left to be played vs. top half of the league)
2. Davidson (3)
3. St. Bonnies (4)
4. SLU/VCU/Mason (5)
5. Richmond (6)

Ranking of hardest in-league schedule thus far:

1. Dayton/VCU (both played 6 top half teams)
2. Bonnies (played against 5 top half teams)
3. SLU/Richmond/Davidson (played against 4 top half teams)
4. Mason (played against 3 top half teams)

Without question, VCU has the toughest schedule of all. They're already tied for having the toughest schedule so far, plus also have one of the toughest remaining schedules to go.

BTW...Judging that UR still has 6 more games to go vs. the top half of the conference, I'd bet that Mr. Rooney's chances of keeping his job are slim to none. His team has underperformed, even with one of the easiest of the schedules to date.
