Saw an interesting article about UMass' athletic department and how their lack of success/lack of fan support/lack of revenue is a bad cycle. I think we all know that attendance at sporting events across the board is dwindling, and we are lucky as heck to be fans of an exceptional school, with exceptional fan support.

Kellogg probably has at least another year or two with his outstanding (on paper) class coming in next year, but they really have under-achieved across the board there.

I was also reading the Rhody board about their attendance and they only got about 6,100 for their game against us. VCU fans have been talking smack on the Twitter about how they sell out, but their arena only holds about 7,500. We have close to 11,000 season ticket holders! VCU's undergrad enrollment is just shy of 24,000, Dayton's is ~8,500.

Obviously nobody is perfect, and not every decision by our athletic department has worked out, but when you take a step back and look around, it makes you appreciate what we have going here. We have smart, hardworking people in charge, passionate, dedicated fans, and a crown jewel of a basketball team. It's just nice to take a breath and marvel at what we've got.
