I thought Ryan Mikesell showed some offensive skills last night and scored when we needed some offense. Obviously, he is capable of doing more than throwing up 3 pointers and showed that in the first half .
I do think he tried harder on defense last night but he is still subject to loafing on the defensive end or just not being focused enough on defense.
at one point he was slow fighting through the screens and slow closing out on the shooter.He stood and watched from the sideline after failing to close out when he should have hustled and blocked out. the shooter got the rebound and they ended up getting a lay up due to him not hustling to get rebound position.
However, he surely has skills I have not previously seen and,eventually, will earn more minutes for his offense.
Archie will coach him up on the defense.
I'm beginning to really appreciate these freshmen and know that there are several struggling to get minutes right now that will surely develop as the season progresses.
Very encouraged by the future of these youngsters.
