So we brought UD Arena to them. Last night felt like an NCAA tournament game. What an incredible atmosphere, which was generated by the Flyer fans and two very fine college basketball teams. From what I understand, it was the largest crowd they have had down here, and it was mostly a sea of red. It only confirms that we have one of the great fan followings, and one of the great traditions in all of college basketball. And what is so exciting is we get to go do it again tonight. We will be ready!

Situations like last night are why college coaches need to realize the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Sure, you might get a little more money. Sure, you might be able to recruit at a little bit higher level. But who will notice? I'd much rather be in a place I am comfortable, know I can win, and know the people support me.

I had an old friend over to our family thanksgiving and we were watching some afternoon basketball and he commented about the empty stands at these pre season college tournaments and I told him to watch tonight because Dayton will have between 500 to 1000 fans at the game.He could not really believe that but when I saw the shots of the field house it looked like a sea of red and I'd say Dayton had at least 1500 to 2000 fans at the game.My friend called me this morning expressing dismay and he'll be watching tonight.
Pretty proud of this team and those Dayton fans .
Monmouth will be a real test but it sure would be nice to see a Dayton/Xavier finals match up.
Go Flyers!

Don't pencil XU in just yet. USC has had X's number the last few times. Hard to explain. Bama was plain awful, as you guys well know. I know nothing about Monmouth but they probably have that chip on their shoulder. It
s going to be a great day.

Knowing Mack style I haven't bothered scouting X because I know what they'll bring and having seen a little bit of Monmouth last night I got a good feel for them so I scouted USC this morning and they're very talented. They're big and have some very good shooters and athletes. X and SC should be a very closely contested game unless 1 of the 2 has a really good afternoon.

My family gets together in Tennessee every year for thanksgiving. I have 3 cousins between the ages of 10-14 and they don't really watch college basketball. Not their fault they are from Georgia where college football is king. They watched the game with my family last night and fell in love with Dayton basketball and the atmosphere they could hear through the speakers. I went ahead and bought them all UD gear last night after the game and they are coming to visit late January and want to go to a game. Safe to say UD gained three little flyer fans with that performance last night.

Monmouth is very good, and an extremely well coached basketball team. The key player is the dynamic 5'8" point guard Robinson. He took over the game yesterday against Notre Dame and was the best player on the court. They had no one who could guard him. I do not think they are as good as Iowa, but we need to be ready to play with great effort. They are as good as an upper echelon A-10 team in my opinion.
