Georgia passed a law allowing student athletes to get income from their name likeness and endorsements starting I believe this July but the universities will have the option of keeping 70% of the profits. The money will go into some kind of escrow account to be distributed at the end of the year to all the other athletes that I guess didn't get any offers to make some money.
Sounds a little greedy on the part of the schools to take that high a percentage of the profits. Course the schools aren't obligated to take any at all and if other colleges in the other states don't go after the kid's money looks like it could backfire and hurt recruiting to all the Georgia schools.
Seems like a Pandora's box will happen as how will this be regulated? How much can a booster offer a player to endorse his car dealership or clothing store? You have recruits being offered hundreds of thousands of dollars now under the table. If it becomes legal it'll become who's the highest bidder.
