Long post
Last night I thought was one of DaRon's finest all-around performances. As this mid-season highlight video from last year will attest to, he is a sensational talent. Of course he needs more work as he moves towards the next level, but I feel the NBA game offers more floor spacing and he will be able to expand his shooting range and his ability to take defenders off the dribble with his excellent quickness for a big man.
You really have to be impressed with his court sense and vision, to go along with his developing offensive repertoire, defensive ability and feet.
Sometimes we expect him to perform like a seasoned standout NBA vet every single night, but we need to remind ourselves DaRon is still a 20 year old true sophomore.
I think DaRon has gone through some mid-season struggles, which have help him to reach a new level of development as a player, which I thought we saw last night, I believe he had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and at least 2 blocked shots. It was a fantastic all around effort.
This is an outstanding video which shows a tremendous burgeoning talent. When I watched it I said, "Wow, this kid is really special." I'm looking forward to watching his play and development for the next game and for the remainder of the season.
We know there is speculation as to how long he will remain on campus. In my opinion, after last night and watching this video, I believe it will be sooner rather than later, especially since the NBA people seem to go more on potential and speculation more so than present skill levels. Let's continue to sit back and enjoy watching one of the all time great Dayton Flyers.
