One thing that has come to mind lately is the continuing development of two of our most talented young players, Jalen and Jordan. These two guys are maturing and becoming better players at the midway point of their sophomore year. This is a reflection of our coaching staff. Ryan Mikesell and Trey Landers are better players as well. Our coach and his staff are developing players which is very encouraging.

When you look at what is going on this year, where we have a starting 5 and a bench consisting of three freshman, you have to be impressed with what this team is accomplishing. There are imperfections without question, and limitations, along with a lack of depth, but I truly feel the team is consistently well-prepared, and the staff has established a culture of competitiveness and togetherness in the program.

Then you think about how this roster has been overhauled in a short period of time, and next year we will have one of the deeper and more talented teams that we have ever had. You have to be excited about the trajectory of the program.

I know it’s mid-season, and future success isn’t guaranteed, but I really appreciate what Anthony Grant has accomplished since Archie moved on. I’m really looking forward to the game against George Mason on Wednesday. The team is growing and they’re exciting to watch.
