Was looking at the stats and our pct is around 32, which isn't great. Take away Koby and it's just around 30. We rank 247th among all D1 teams shooting the 3. We avg 34% at home and 30% away. Last year, we averaged 36% which would have put us in the top 75 at least. That difference in % has probably cost us several close games. It also makes it much more difficult to get back into a game when we are down. Koby is the only guy that you pretty much always feel comfortable taking a 3, and Smith I feel is the worst (he's 1-11), but wasn't very good last year from 3 either.
When I watch other teams, and not just top teams, I see a lot of guys working to get open for 3 and take them with confidence. They are actively looking to shoot 3s. When I watch us, we don't seem to actively look for the 3 unless Koby is in the game. Which of course, is allowing other teams to pack it in against DaRon and double-team him.
Not sure why we've regressed in shooting 3s, and unless there's significant improvement or a big roster makeover, not sure how that changes next year, but it seems critical that it does change. It's just the way college ball is played these days.
