The crucible

A Sunday and nary a post on our usually busy Red and Blue board. Gloom and despair has descended over the UD faithful, fully understandable. Through the roof expectations have been shattered: a 1-4 record over 10 days: loss of the shooting guard for unknown duration, and possibly and maybe probably loss of the point guard for the season.
Hope springs eternal- a core, a nucleus of demonstrated talent exists available for the remainder of the season. To pull those remnants together is the challenge that faces the coaching staff. In a sense, this crisis is the crucible for AG to prove his worth as a superb coach- not just a superb person and an excellent recruiter but a leader- a crucible to define his career.

Tickets to Bahamas Games

For anyone already down in the Bahamas or on their way who doesn't have tickets I unfortunately had a late change of plans and my family had to cancel our trip. I currently have 6 midcourt tickets to all Flyers games. When I originally bought them they were marked as not being able to be resold or refunded but in checking with the box office after receiving them via email I am able to change them to someone else's name via the showclix website that produces the digital tickets and there shouldn't be an issue with anyone else using them.

Direct message me if interested. Not looking to make a buck, but just salvage some money to make up for my sadness of being stuck in Ohio!

For what its worth the seats info on the ticket is as follows:
Sec 1 Midcourt
Row: H Seats:13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18

The Backcourt

The biggest issue or talking point now regarding our team is the backcourt.

It looks like Mali will be coming back soon which will be so important for our success this year.

Brea is getting healthy, but I think Mike needs to stay in the starting lineup at that 2 guard position and I think he should have the opportunity to play the role of lead guard as well.

This would give Kobe Elvis the opportunity to come off the bench and play his more natural role as a scorer. We need more bodies and Brea and Elvis would give us 2 more quality players to throw at opponents, especially if we play more uptempo.

We have some weakness at the point guard position on our second unit when Mali comes back and there's still some questions in the interim before he comes back.

I wasn't sure about Mike, but I've now seen enough to know he needs to be getting a lot of minutes at the 2 guard, and I think we need to hand him time at the 1 and develop him as the guy who can come in to form a one two punch with Mali. He needs to stay out of foul trouble though.

He looks like one of the most talented players in our program, although he is still inexperienced and will experience growing pains.

It will be interesting to see where Anthony Grant goes with the aforementioned players and their roles.

In my opinion, if we want to get where we want to go over the next couple of years, we need a second lead guard.

Wisconsin starters

Next week again is big for UD. Need to come out of there at least 2 and 1. Would like to go into conference 9 and 3 and at least have a shot to upset VA Tech , they are playing very well. It’s a long season but with each loss and the conference other than SLU , Bad Loss by VCU last nite, doesn’t look that strong again our at large margin gets slimmer.So…. my opinion… I hope they keep Mike in a starters roll. Let Elvis come off the bench and be the micro wave that he can be and gives us a boost off the bench. Mike has earned a spot and I don’t know if he would be as comfortable coming off the bench. I would also if RJ doesnt step up give Mike more min at the 3….now he would have to play D and get us 5 boards. RJ seems stuck on 2…with our front court hurt and the depth an issue we need that spot to do more rebounding. Last….lol….I would make Sat a tryout for the backup frontbcourt….take the shirt off Baker and let him..Zimi and Richard play. That was God Awful Tuesday amd there will be fouls trouble and injuries down the road. When healthy we will be dangerous…but this team need to grow some fur and when they are on the road and adversity hits…FIGHT thru it. The Lasalle..Richmond .UNLV stuff has to stop or back to the NIT.

New Conference

So Gonzaga loses BYU from there conference. Wichita State Loses The key members of the AAC… so always BIG East Is the Goal but the door is open with all that is going on for a NEW and Positive opportunity for UD. Will take out of the box and aggressive negotiating. UD…VCU…Wichita State…Slu..Davidson..Chicago Loyola. Those six Would be the start of a top notch new conference….Find a a way to get Gonzaga and it’s as good if nit better than Big East. Granted complicated but would be as good if not better than Big East….food for thought
